What is a Mercedes A Service?
The last thing you want is your Mercedes to break down due to a minor fault which could’ve been easily fixed, right?
This is what happens if you skip your Mercedes service.
Regularly servicing your vehicle keeps it in peak condition. Small faults are found before they become serious (and costly) issues.
And, the longer you avoid servicing your Mercedes, the higher your breakdown risk. It’s stressful and dangerous but can be easily avoided.
To keep your vehicle running like new, Mercedes has developed several types of service:
- Mercedes A Service
- Mercedes B Service
Regardless of what type of service you’re due, you should always stick to your servicing schedule. The Mercedes A and B services are required to keep your Mercedes warranty intact. And they ensure you remain safe on the road.
When Mrs P visited Garden City Garage, she was unsure which service her Mercedes C Class required.
Luckily, our Mercedes experts have decades of experience, knowledge, and skills working with the brand and have access to the same information the Mercedes dealerships do. There are no problems they can’t handle.
As local Mercedes specialists, our technicians informed Mrs P which type of service her vehicle needed immediately.
Garden City Garage provides dealership-level servicing while giving you better value than the local Mercedes dealership.

What’s the difference between Mercedes A service and Mercedes B service?
One of the most common questions at Garden City Garage is, “what’s the difference between the Mercedes A service and B Service?”.
Here are the main differences:
When your vehicle reaches one year old, it usually requires the Mercedes A Service. It’s then repeated every two years (depending on mileage).
Mercedes A Service includes:
- Oil filter replacement
- Synthetic motor oil replacement
- Brake component inspection
- Tyre inflation check & correction
- Reset maintenance counter
The Mercedes B Service is more thorough. And is best suited for older Mercedes vehicles (or if you’ve driven many miles).
Your Mercedes B Service is usually required one year after your Mercedes A Service. Each type of service alternates each year.
Mercedes B Service includes:
- Synthetic motor oil replacement
- Cabin dust/combination filter replacement
- Reset maintenance counter
- Oil filter replacement
- Brake component inspection
As Mrs P was unsure of the type of service her Mercedes needed, she asked our expert technicians for help.
Thankfully, our Mercedes specialists have access to the same manufacturer information as the main Mercedes dealerships and told her precisely what was required.
What happened next?
While our experts checked the Mercedes digital service records, we discovered Mrs P’s C Class required a Mercedes A Service.
But, during the Mercedes A Service, a small issue was discovered with the vehicle’s wheel alignment.
Over time, your vehicle’s wheel alignment will change. Speed bumps, potholes, curbs, and debris often cause this. It’s a common issue all vehicles can encounter.
While it’s not a significant issue initially, it can create uneven tyre wear and be challenging to drive straight, decreasing safety.
You want to be safe on the road, right?
If left unchecked, the issue can worsen, leaving you with a higher risk of an accident and a more expensive fix.
Mrs P’s Mercedes C Class didn’t sustain any serious damage from the misalignment, luckily. But, her right-hand front tyre was significantly worn compared to the rest, and the tread was below requirement.
Solving the issue
To make Mrs P’s Mercedes safe and prevent further problems, it was crucial to realign her vehicle’s wheels and replace the worn tyre.
Before our experts began the required work, we called Mrs P to discuss the issues encountered during the Mercedes A Service.
At Garden City Garage, you’re always kept in the loop. And you’re in complete control. We only begin working on your vehicle when you’ve given us the green light.
Once Mrs P gave us the go-ahead, our experts got to work.

Our experts perform a comprehensive safety inspection during every Mercedes A service, ensuring your vehicle is roadworthy. We go beyond the servicing guidelines to provide your Mercedes with the luxury care it deserves.
Mrs B’s Mercedes C Class passed our safety tests with flying colours. And we gave her keys back with confidence.
She was pleased to have her vehicle back within a few hours, something you wouldn’t get from the local Mercedes dealership. At Garden City Garage, you always get better than dealership servicing for better value.
