The Issue We Had To Resolve

Even when the hot air setting was selected, the climate control system was pumping out cold air. This remained the case even when the engine was warm – something wasn’t right.
Vehicle heaters use a heater matrix to warm up the air that blows through vents to warm up the interior cabin. On a winter’s day, this is ideal as it helps to keep you warm and demists the windows at the same time.

Diagnosing the Cool Air Issue

Mercedes SLK Heater Repair Procedure
Our team of experts know Mercedes vehicles inside out and they quickly noticed the problem: there was a faulty shaft in the heater box, causing the heater to permanently remain in the cold setting.
After the technician tested the heater motor by using advanced equipment combined with the right knowledge, they discovered that the motor did not want to move and provide warm air.
The heater box needed to be removed to check the shaft in more detail and see if the issue could be resolved. As the Mercedes heater box is a carefully designed unit, all components need to be fully in sync. Due to the way the unit was manufactured, there was no possible way to repair the shaft alone.
After exploring all the options, the technician recommended replacing the heater box to resolve the cold air issue.
